Day 1

I carry a lot wherever I go. I have my water bottle, lunch bag, work bag, purse, and a book. When I go to the beach, I try to bring a million distractions. But when I try to bring stuff to my Stillness Time, I quickly remind myself the outer must yield to the inner stuff. I release the cares, the presumption of what I need, the weight of the conversational burdens, the gestural godless form without power.

I am thankful my human shoulders can take a rest from the world and its systems. I look out and see an ocean ready to engulf the anxieties. It’s so exhilarating to drop the weight and look up, look out and reimagine.

In stillness, be as light as a feather. Don’t bring your phone to the water. Bring your hope, faith, and love to the refreshing stream. Let the atmosphere of God’s presence center the outpouring moment for you. That’s right, put it in the proper perspective. You are lighter, exchanging your spirit for His. You are lifted up, transferring the desert desolation of worry with the crashing in of patience and peace.

Numbers 21: 17 Then Israel sang this song: Spring up, O well! Sing about it--
